The region in and around Marktoberdorf is a true paradise for vacationers. Whether you are a mountaineer, nature lover or travel with your kids and family – the Allgäu has something to offer for everybody. Go for a beautiful walk around Lake Hopfen close to Füssen or visit the castles of the Bavarian fairytale king Ludwig II in Schwangau.

Travel back in time by visiting one of the numerous fortresses and fortress ruins such as Freyberg and Eisenberg or the archaeological park Cambodonum in Kempten. Marktoberdorf itself is also home to a number of museums: Whether it is the Riesengebirgsmuseum (Museum of the Giant Mountains), Stadtmuseum (town museum), the Heimatmuseum (local history museum) or the Römerbad (Roman bath) – history fans can get some deep insights into the town’s and region’s past. Nature lovers on the other hand enjoy the proximity to well-known mountains such as the Tegelberg and Breitenberg.

A popular activity for families is a visit to the Skylinepark, Bavaria’s largest theme park located about 35km from Marktoberdorf and offering more than 60 attractions. There are also plenty of activities for rainy days: Climbing halls, indoor playgrounds and swimming pools can be found in Marktoberdorf and its surroundings, offering a great alternative for rainy weather.
