The region in and around Marktoberdorf is a true paradise for vacationers. Whether you are a mountaineer, nature lover or travel with your kids and family – the Allgäu has something to offer for everybody. Go for a beautiful walk around Lake Hopfen close to Füssen or visit the castles of the Bavarian fairytale king Ludwig II in Schwangau.

Numerous castles and castle ruins in the Allgäu, such as the Freyberg and Eisenberg castle ruins or the Cambodunum Archaeological Park in Kempten , transport visitors back to another age and are highly recommended. In Marktoberdorf itself, you can also embark on a journey through time in various museums. In the Giant Mountains Museum, town museum, local history museum or during a visit to the Roman baths, you can gain an insight into times gone by. Of course, there are also numerous mountains for hiking and mountain tours such as the famous Tegelberg or Breitenberg in the immediate vicinity.
